Tadhg an Astna Players, founded in 2012 is Clonakilty’s local drama group. The group’s main focus has been on writing and producing original drama. The Players have performed all over west Cork and Cork city, have produced a one day spoken word festival ‘Dawn til Dusk’, in 2013. Now in partnership with Clonakilty Community Arts Centre, they have organised Clonakilty’s first ever Organic Arts Festival. The Three Little Pigs will take children on a mystery journey around Clonakilty, following the classic story. The show is written, directed and produced by Tracey Lombard, Clonakilty native and accomplished dance teacher and drama producer. The first train will leave The Model Village at 2pm on Saturday, with a second group leaving at 3pm. Get there before these times to avoid disappointment! All children are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. SATURDAY/MODEL VILLAGE/2PM & 3PM (Families)
Classical Gas Tadgh an Astna Players, in conjunction with Magic Lantern Studio, are proud to present this unique street-theatre production. A comical recreation of Greek classical drama, this open-air musical spectacular incorporates elements of ancient mythology; carnival and burlesque. The show is written and directed by former Craic-na-Coillte mainstay Manny Lange; and has been produced under the auspices of the Clonakilty Community Arts Centre with funding from Cork County Council. It will be performed at Inchydoney amphitheatre at lunchtime and in Kennedy Gardens at dusk on Midsummer's Day, Sunday 21st June. Anseo a thagann an ghrian! Kieran Doyle is a co – founder of Tadhg an Astna players and has written and directed a number of plays for the group. Some of his plays have featured in Rossmore theatre, the Cat club in Cork City, as well as festivals in Clonakilty, Bantry and Union Hall. He also writes drama for schools http://originaldramaforschools.com. His latest play ‘Homeless’ is a dark comic one-act play that explores whether or not we truly understand the concept of homelessness. SUNDAY/CLONAKILTY HOTEL/6PM
